How to Remove Squirrels From your Attic

There are two main ways to remove squirrels: first is too trap and remove them and the second is to exclude them. Both have there advantages and disadvantages. The most important thing is making sure you have removed all the animal before sealing up the way they are getting in. The word "animal" is used because you not only need to make sure all the squirrels are out, but also anything else that might be living in your attic. If a squirrel can get into your house anything smaller that a squirrel can as well, like a rat, mouse, small opossum, or even raccoon's depending on the size of the entry hole.

We have seen way too many times when customers have sealed in other animals in the house and one of two things happen as a result. First is the animal dies in the attic, walls, or under the house. Its Spring time in Oregon and with spring comes babies! This goes for the wildlife in the Portland metro area also. Although these babies are undeniably cute, they can create possible hazards for residents. Squirrel's are rodents and because of that they constantly chew to counter the fact there teeth never stop growing.

When you have squirrels in an attic that could mean they chew wires or siding of your attic or house. It is important to properly remove the squirrels during the spring because of the possible of baby squirrels in the attic. Below is a description of a job we just finished up for a lady in Portland, Oregon who called because she heard noises in her attic.

Help how do I get rid of squirrels in my attic!

We received a call at about 5 am on a Saturday morning. The first thing the lady that called said was "oh thank god you answered something is in my attic and has been keeping me up the last couple nights. After she described the sound I said I would guess it was probably squirrels in the attic and that we could help remove the squirrels. She then asked "how you would get rid of squirrels in my attic?"

We explained it all depended on her problem and that we had two main methods of squirrel removal in Oregon this time of the year. If babies squirrels are in the attic we would need to find the nest and mother to help relocate them. If no babies are present and you just have a couple adults we can live trap squirrels in the attic to remove them. In the end we removed 2 adult male squirrels and had a happy customer.
